What Religion Is This?

I am a Hindu as I have posted in my previous blog base on the Indian and Hinduism. I have been practicing Hinduism (Link) since I was born.

But an email I received couple of days ago made me wonder what religion is this that practice “ahimsa” and killing of another soul.

It has been told that, this sacrifice and blood were claimed by the “goddess” of the religion.

Can anyone share some information with me regarding the religion practice related to the photograph in this article?

This photo email came from a friend of mine that claim this religion has been practiced in Muar, Johor, Malaysia for many years.

This kind killings only done for evil or satans offering..There is a better way to worship goddes KALI..try understand and follow the proper way of worshipping rather than sacrificing a soul..Put a fullstop to this kind barbaric act so tht our next generation folows the real way of Hinduism..One mistake in Hindusim is freedom of worshiping.. My dear Peacemaker,
" I do aggreeee with your comments and no one should be blamed rather then we blame ourself.... but you have to understand one simple things dat we are not praying one god (even there one) but for us there's many and we pratice according to our beliefe. There is many differents way to worship goddes and to tell you this is the way how we pratice to worship our goddes Kali.
"No god demands a killing of another soul.. dats we agree but the other word sounds "This kind killings only done for evil or satans offering"please do read and understand about our goddes kali before you comments which may hurts us as Kali devotee
Read this part:-
The Goddess Kali is an incarnation of Parvati, the consort of Lord Shiva. She assumed this form in order to vanquish the demon Raktabija, whose name means "the seed of blood". The gods could not kill the demon Raktabija because he had received from Brahma the boon of being born anew a one thousand times more powerful than before, each time a drop of his blood was shed. Every drop of his blood that touched the ground transformed itself into another and more powerful Raktabija. Within a few minutes of striking this demon the entire battlefield covered with millions of Raktabija clones. In despair, the gods turned to Shiva. But Shiva was lost in meditation at the time and the gods were afraid to disturb him. Hence they pleaded with his consort Parvati for her assistance.
The goddess immediately set out to do battle with this dreaded demon in the form of Kali or "the Black One". Her eyes were red, her complexion was dark, her features gaunt, her hair unbound, and her teeth sharp like fangs. As the eight-armed Goddess rode into the battleground on her lion, Raktabija experienced fear for the first time in his demonic heart. Kali ordered the gods to attack Raktabija. She then spread her tongue to cover the battlefield preventing even a single drop of Raktabija's blood from falling on the group. Thus, she prevented Raktabija from reproducing himself and the gods were able to slay the demon. Another form of the legend says that Kali pierced Raktabija with a spear, and at once stuck her lips to the wound to drink all the blood as it gushed out of the body, thus preventing Raktabija from reproducing himself.
Drunk on Raktabija's blood, Kali ran across the cosmos killing anyone who dared cross her path. She adorned herself with the heads, limbs and entrails of her victim. The gods were witnessing the balance of the universe being shattered. As a last resort they had to rouse Shiva from his meditation. To pacify her, Shiva threw himself under her feet. This stopped the goddess. She calmed down, embraced her husband, shed her ferocious form to became Gauri, "the Fair one".
My dear peacemaker, are you a vegetarian? if yes i do agree with ur comments,
If you are not and vegetarian? Y you are not? Think, read and understand before comments MR PEACEMAKER...

Read:-
"The love between the Divine Mother and her human children is a unique relationship. Kali, the Dark Mother is one such deity with whom devotees have a very loving and intimate bond, in spite of her fearful appearance. In this relationship, the worshipper becomes a child and Kali assumes the form of the ever-caring mother.
"O Mother, even a dullard becomes a poet who meditates upon thee raimented with space, three-eyed, creatrix of the three worlds, whose waist is beautiful with a girdle made of numbers of dead men's arms..." (From a Karpuradistotra hymn, translated from Sanskrit by Sir John Woodroffe)
Who is Kali?
Kali is the fearful and ferocious form of the mother goddess. She assumed the form of a powerful goddess and became popular with the composition of the Devi Mahatmya, a text of the 5th - 6th century AD. Here she is depicted as having born from the brow of Goddess Durga during one of her battles with the evil forces. As the legend goes, in the battle, Kali was so much involved in the killing spree that she got carried away and began destroying everything in sight. To stop her, Lord Shiva threw himself under her feet. Shocked at this sight, Kali stuck out her tongue in astonishment, and put an end to her homicidal rampage. Hence the common image of Kali shows her in her mêlée mood, standing with one foot on Shiva's chest, with her enormous tongue stuck out.
The Fearful Symmetry
Kali is represented with perhaps the fiercest features amongst all the world's deities. She has four arms, with a sword in one hand and the head of a demon in another. The other two hands bless her worshippers, and say, "fear not"! She has two dead heads for her earrings, a string of skulls as necklace, and a girdle made of human hands as her clothing. Her tongue protrudes from her mouth, her eyes are red, and her face and breasts are sullied with blood. She stands with one foot on the thigh, and another on the chest of her husband, Shiva.
Awesome Symbols!
Kali's fierce form is strewed with awesome symbols. Her black complexion symbolizes her all-embracing and transcendental nature. Says the Mahanirvana Tantra: "Just as all colors disappear in black, so all names and forms disappear in her". Her nudity is primeval, fundamental, and transparent like Nature — the earth, sea, and sky. Kali is free from the illusory covering, for she is beyond the all maya or "false consciousness." Kali's garland of fifty human heads that stands for the fifty letters in the Sanskrit alphabet, symbolizes infinite knowledge.
Her girdle of severed human hands signifies work and liberation from the cycle of karma. Her white teeth show her inner purity, and her red lolling tongue indicates her omnivorous nature — "her indiscriminate enjoyment of all the world's 'flavors'." Her sword is the destroyer of false consciousness and the eight bonds that bind us.
Her three eyes represent past, present, and future, — the three modes of time — an attribute that lies in the very name Kali ('Kala' in Sanskrit means time). The eminent translator of Tantrik texts, Sir John Woodroffe in Garland of Letters, writes, "Kali is so called because She devours Kala (Time) and then resumes Her own dark formlessness."
Kali's proximity to cremation grounds where the five elements or "Pancha Mahabhuta" come together, and all worldly attachments are absolved, again point to the cycle of birth and death. The reclined Shiva lying prostrate under the feet of Kali suggests that without the power of Kali (Shakti), Shiva is inert.

Dear Mr. Anonymous...
I am one of the reader who came accross your comment replying to "peacemakers" comments. Thanks for your time and passion. A very good explanation of cause.

But to my concern, is there any books or scriptures about this? Is your explanation is written anywhere in our holybook? Or it is another myth of the communities imagination?

Sometime, a simple thing can be complicating. Cause of the stories that has been told.

When we are talking about the GOD, it is god that we are talking about. Not somekind of epic story.

You must understand we are talking about GOD.... "GOD"

I think this is why hinduism is losing the facts.
I think this type of stories are the reason Hinduism are becoming complicating.
I think the stories are totaly diverted from the real hinduism practised?

Mr. Anonymous...
I have heard about this before, it was indeed made as a movie too.

As you telling me the tamil devotional movie?

Yes, even many of us think the lord "KARNAN" is Sivaji ganesan cause of the movie effect.

Can you narrow me down. Is killing and drinking blood such shown in the pic is practical in this millenium?
What will others think about us? It was a total barbaric...

Don't be angry. This is what I felt. But if you think you have anymore infor, please forward your comments.

regards
