East Malaysia ~ Sabah

It was not new but only refreshing. I was here and here I am again. In my younger days, I use to travel from Kuching to Sibu (by Speed boat through rivers) and to Bintulu up right to Miri by my bike.

I never stopped there but continued to Kuala Belait Brunei, Tutong and Bandar Seri bagawan and again to Labuan. From Labuan I traveled to Beaufort Sabah and visited each town, from Kota Belud, Kudat, Tawau, Sandakan, Keningau, Tenom and the journey continued for eight months.

I traveled my journey only with my motorcycle Suzuki RC100.

I have climbed Mount Kinabalu and had my RM15 certificates of confirmation. I have snapped few photographs and continued to Sipadan Island for Snorkeling. It was a virgin island back than and simply adoring.

I was very young back than and very charismatic and  energetic. Basically this trip was done together with some my friends. One of them is the in-famous brother Shah Kirit.

Same goes to my recent visit to Sabah which had given me such a fantastic memories and experience. My recent visit to Kota Marudu to attend the local wedding had given me a chance to explore the culture and the people around east Malaysia.

The state was not truly developed. The road condition was so back dated. The people stayed along the way still depending on mother nature to survive.

East Malaysians, specially Sabahans still remain the same with only minor progress in development. They were still in the progress of transformation. But the culture of being the head hunters and pride of their own traditional still remain thick in their mind.

I believe with the new IT technology, many now and many in future shall be open to the world.

This reminds me my younger days where we used to live in a world on black and white TV and no telephone or never heard about computers.

Mentality and civilization progress of Sabahan is on track but not up to the expectation for a state which have contributed the most in the 2008 general election, the development should be seriously considered.

Talking about the people, sorry to say but actually I felt very sorry for them as they are not the head hunters warriors that has been claimed.

They don't dare to face you as man but rather stab you from behind. They always smile to show hospitality but it wasn't always genuine.  Believe me, You will be treated greatly as a tourist but they will never except you in as one in the community. They are just so afraid to face your challenge to be smart.

Mather of fact, it was not them nor their culture but I rather say, they are not there yet as where we West Malaysian.

Not to worry, as America use slave the blacks and now they are having a black president. Soon this culture shall be in place in this country and soon changes will be. It was only the matter of time in fact.
